Alleluia!

Activity Objective:
To have the children learn that Alleluia means Praise the Lord.
Lesson Outcome:
The children will know that when they proclaim the Gospel Acclamation at church, they are praising the Lord with joy.
Materials
•Construction paper, cut in the shape of a baseball pennant
•Markers
•Paint-mixing stick
•Heavy tape
•CD player, joyful Easter song                                                                                                            •Bible
Directions:
On the board write ALLELUIA = Praise the Lord! Pass out the construction-paper pennants and markers to the children. Talk about the meaning of Alleluia as you do this. Instruct them to write ALLELUIA on their pennants and to decorate them. Give the children time to finish, and then help them tape a paint-mixing stick onto the back of the pennants. As each child finishes the project, ask him or her to sit in a circle for prayer. The pennants should be on the floor in front of each child. You will be praying the prayer service below. Tell the children that when they hear the word Alleluia, they should pick up their Alleluia pennants and wave them in the air with joy. *Leader:
We meet Jeus in those we love and serve. We meet Jesus in a special way at Mass. Let us rejoice ithat the Lord is with us.  [Read Psalm 96:1-2].    Let us continue to priase Jesus by loving one another. All:
Amen. Alleluia.

Approximate Time:

Hints:
