Bring Happiness

Activity Objective:
To share how we act as signs of God's goodness in the world, bringing happiness to others and to ourselves
Lesson Outcome:
The children will identify ways we bring happiness to others and to ourselves.
Directions:
  • Invite the children to sit in a circle.
  • Introduce the activity by telling the children that as members of God's kingdom, we are called to act as signs of God's goodness in the world.
  • Instruct each child to think of a way he or she brings happiness to others and to himself or herself.
  • Begin the activity by saying: I bring happiness to others by . . . (Name something that you do to bring happiness to others and to yourself.)
  • The child to the right repeats I bring happiness to others by . . . (He or she repeats what was said previously and adds something that he or she does to bring happiness to others and to himself or herself.)
  • End the circle where it began by repeating everything that the children said.
Learning Styles:
People Smart,Word Smart
Approximate Time:
5-10 minutes
Hints:
Invite the children to keep their answers to one to three words.

It may be necessary to encourage the children to think beyond material happiness.
Sensitivities:
After the children are seated, seat yourself next to the child or children who may have difficulty remembering in order to ensure that they have only one or two items to remember.
