Dear Teacher

Activity Objective:
To review the Sacrament of Baptism
Lesson Outcome:
The children will be able to describe the rite and effects of the Sacrament of Baptism.
Directions:
  • Divide the children into two groups.
  • Position the two groups facing each other.
  • Pair children from group A with children from group B.
  • Instruct the two groups to take two big steps apart from each other.
  • Explain that the Jordan River is now between them.
  • The object is to bring their partner across the Jordan by correctly answering Baptism questions.
  • Use facts about Baptism to formulate questions such as: What is the main sign of Baptism?
  • When a child answers correctly, the child's partner is brought through the waters of the invisible Jordan River to the partner's side.
  • When all of the children have been brought safely across the Jordan, have the children return to opposite sides of the river and ask the second group questions.
Learning Styles:
Word Smart
Approximate Time:
10 minutes
Hints:
Prepare questions ahead of time based on the number of children in the group.

If a child is unable to answer correctly, continue down the line of children in the group returning as many times as is necessary for the child to respond correctly.
Sensitivities:
Be mindful of the abilities of the children, and select questions that are appropriate to the children's different abilities.
