QUESTION:
The idea for the shamrock serving as a symbol for the Holy Trinity is attributed to St. Patrick, whose feast day will be celebrated on March 17. If you had to choose an object today to represent the concept of the Trinity—one God but three persons—what would you choose?
FAITH TIP:
A perfect symbol for the Trinity is a loving family. For all its mystery, the essence of the Trinity is relationship, where the three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) see one another and respond in love. This divine love brings forth abundant life. In families, no one is overlooked or ignored. We see one another and take the actions of love on behalf of our family members. Our mutual love brings abundant life to our home.
MEALTIME PRAYER:
Dear Lord, Thank you for the love I receive through my family members. Help me to show love to each person, and help me to be mindful of the important part each person plays within our family. In Jesus' name, Amen
