Fired Up for Jesus

Activity Objective:

To reinforce the children's awareness that the Holy Spirit is with them, helping them to reach out to others

Lesson Outcome:

The children will describe how the Holy Spirit helps them accept Jesus' mission and lead prayerful lives.

Materials

Directions:

Tell the children that this activity will help them to remember that the Holy Spirit is always with them to guide them in reaching out to others.
Ask the children what it means to say that the Holy Spirit got the disciples "fired up."
Ask the children what symbol was used to show this in the Pentecost picture. (flame)
Write the words Fired Up for Jesus on the board. Invite the children to draw, color, and cut out a flame shape large enough to write these words on it.
Invite children to share some ways they can share Jesus with others.
Pin each child's flame on him or her, saying these or similar words: (Name), may you always be fired up for Jesus.
Conclude by reminding the children to pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance and to share the meaning of their flames with their families.
