Flames of Spirit

Activity Objective:
To make paper flames that show ways in which the Holy Spirit helps us to be loving
Lesson Outcome:
The children will recall ways in which the Holy Spirit helped them to be loving.
Materials
  • Red construction-paper flames approximately 4" x 6" in size
  • A poster board titled “The Holy Spirit Glows Within Us”

Directions:
  • After discussing how the Holy Spirit helps us to be loving and kind, tell the children that during the upcoming week, they will have many opportunities to show how the Holy Spirit helps them to be like Jesus to others.
  • Brainstorm some ideas together.
  • Give each child a red paper flame.
  • Present the poster board and tell them that when they come to the next session, they should bring back their flame with a picture or a sentence written on it that describes how the Holy Spirit helped them to be loving and kind to someone.
  • Tell them that in the next session, you will ask each of them to share their flame, and then all the flames will be taped to the poster board to symbolize how the Holy Spirit was at work in the group.
