Food Scavenger Hunt

God Provides for Us

Activity Objective:
To find in nature all the ways God provides for us
Lesson Outcome:
The children will understand that God provides all we need.
Materials
  • Note pads
  • Pens/pencils
  • Paper bags

Directions:
  • Explain to the children that as with the miracle of the loaves and fishes, God will provide us with what we need.
  • Explain that the group is going to go outside on a scavenger hunt for those things that we need that God has provided for us.
  • Arrange the children in groups of four or five. Give each group a pad of paper, pencil, and a paper bag.
  • Explain to the children that you want them to “collect” things they have found which God has provided for our needs. These can be small things, (acorns/nuts and seeds they can put in the bag) or larger things (fresh air, trees for shade) that they can write on the note pad.
  • Take the group outside for 5-10 minutes to “collect” these things.
  • Come back inside and have the groups share what they found.
  • Reinforce with the children that God provides for all of us.

Learning Styles:
Body Smart,Nature Smart,People Smart
Approximate Time:
15-20 minutes
Hints:
If the weather is inclement, the children can sit in groups and brainstorm rather than go outside.
