Give a Friend a Hand

Caring Like Jesus

Activity Objective:
To encourage the children to be sensitive to other people's feelings so they can help those who are troubled
Lesson Outcome:
The children will follow the words of Saint Paul, who tells us that God wants us to show mercy and support for others as he does for us.
Materials
  • Construction paper
  • Crayons
  • Scissors
Directions:
  • Tell the children that they are going to do an activity that will help them to think of how they might help people in their lives who may be troubled.
  • Tell the children to each trace one of their hands on construction paper and cut them out.
  • Ask them to think of friends or family members who may need help or are feeling sad. Tell them to write a name on each paper finger.
  • Encourage the children to spend a few moments thinking quietly about something they might do to show each of these people they care.
  • Suggest that they take the hands home and put them someplace where they will remind them to be caring friends.
  • Conclude by reminding the children to be sensitive to their friends' words and actions so they will know the best way to help.
Learning Styles:
People Smart,Self Smart
Approximate Time:
