Giving Precious Gifts

Like Jesus

Activity Objective:
To teach the children the importance of giving gifts to others
Lesson Outcome:
The children will understand that the most precious gift God gave to us is Jesus.
Materials
  • Crayons
  • Paper
  • Scissors

Directions:
  • Tell the children that they are going to do an activity that demonstrates the importance of gift giving.
  • Pass out the materials.
  • Ask the children to cut the paper into four squares. Tell them they can do this by first folding the paper horizontally and vertically, and then cutting along the crease lines that are made.
  • Ask them to think of four people to whom they would like to give gifts.
  • Have them write the names on the back of each square.
  • On the front of each square have them draw a picture of the gift they want to give that person.
  • Encourage the children to share their pictures with the group.
  • Conclude by reminding the children that God gave us Jesus—our most precious gift. Encourage them to give the pictures to the people whose names are on them.

Learning Styles:
Art/Space Smart
Approximate Time:
10 minutes
Hints:
You may want to give the children examples of people to whom they might want to give gifts.

Encourage the children to think of different gifts that are not "material."
