Go in Peace, Glorifying the Lord by Your Life

Activity Objective:
To teach children to be aware of the words with which we are sent out of Mass
Lesson Outcome:
The children will connect the closing words of the liturgy with how they can act like Jesus.
Materials
  • Poster board
  • Markers
Directions:
  • Brainstorm with your group about how they can glorify the Lord by showing their love for Jesus. Brainstorm ways of how they can serve Jesus.
  • Write the children's ideas on the poster board.
  • Guide responses toward behaviors that the children are able to do, for example, make bed, pick up trash, play with younger siblings.
  • Talk with your group about the closing words of Mass and tell them to listen for them at Mass. Discuss what empowering means, and explain that these words are meant to empower us to do good.
  • The poster board should stay on display for the next few sessions as a reminder of our being sent forth to follow Jesus.
  • End every session with the words Go in peace, glorifying the Lord.
