Helping Others Live in Peace

Activity Objective:
To identify the call to be like Jesus
Lesson Outcome:
The children will be able to appreciate their call to be like Jesus.
Materials
  • Large poster paper
  • Crayons, markers, and pencils
  • Glue
  • Scissors
Directions:
  • Take a moment to share with the children the story of the shepherds visiting Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Say to the children: Because Jesus came to bring peace on earth, he is called the Prince of Peace. You can be peacemakers like Jesus.
  • As a group, brainstorm a list of ways that the children might help others live in peace (helping out at mealtime, offering food or service to those with special needs, sharing something that is special to you with a friend, and so on).
  • Provide the children with colored paper and ask them to draw or print one way that they will bring peace to others.
  • Then have the children decorate a large piece of poster paper with their individual messages of peace. In the middle of the poster paper, write the words We Help Others Live in Peace.
  • This will become a group mural. Display the mural somewhere in the room for the children to visit throughout the Christmas season.
