Heroes and Saints

Activity Objective:

To show the children how saints are the heroes of the Catholic faith

Lesson Outcome:

The children will be able to tell how the Holy Spirit helps us follow Jesus.

Materials

Directions:

Arrange the children in groups of two or three and have them make a list of examples of heroes from movies, TV, cartoons, or comics.
Invite the groups to report and make a list on the board. Ask volunteers to describe where certain heroes get their strength, power, or inspiration.
Next, brainstorm a list of saints that the children know.
Explain that the saints, our Catholic heroes, receive strength and help from the Holy Spirit.
Talk about how we receive that same strength from the Holy Spirit to follow Jesus and to practice fortitude.
