Holy Spirit, Source of Unity

Activity Objective:
The young people will demonstrate through art and words how the Holy Spirit, our source of unity, leads us to holiness through the sacraments.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people will be able to recognize the Holy Spirit as the source of the Church's unity.
Materials
  • Poster board
  • Markers or crayons
  • Bibles
  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
Directions:
  • Let the young people illustrate how the Spirit leads us to holiness through the sacraments.
  • Have them draw a large flame on the poster board.
  • Inside the flame, have the young people paste quotations from Scripture, pictures that relate to the sacraments, or their written comments about the sacraments.
  • If they wish to use quotations from Scripture, the following examples would be appropriate.

Matthew 19:4-6 (Matrimony)

Matthew 28:16-20 (Baptism)

John 3:4-5 (Baptism/Confirmation)

John 6:54 (Eucharist)

John 20:19-23 (Confirmation, Reconciliation)

Acts of the Apostles 8:14-17 (Confirmation)

James 5:15-16 (Anointing of the Sick/Reconciliation)

Hints:
You may want to provide pictures from magazines or clip art that the young people can use for their posters.
