I Believe/I Can

Activity Objective:
To encourage the children to think about how their belief in God can motivate them to care for the world
Lesson Outcome:
The children will share with one another practical ways they can act on God's invitation to care for his creation.
Directions:
  • Remind the children that in this session they expressed their belief in God, the Creator of our world and everything in it. Invite them to share with a partner some ways they can be God's helpers because of their belief.
  • Write the phrases "I believe" and "I can" on the board.
  • Have children sit with partners, facing each other. Ask them to take turns sharing practical ideas about their beliefs and actions using these phrases. (Examples: I believe God created the ponds and streams; I can help keep them clean by not littering them with garbage. I believe God created all of us; I can help my elderly neighbor.)
  • Conclude the activity when everyone has had a chance to share one or two ideas. Remind the children that these are everyday things they can do now to live their belief in God.
