Jesus Bookmark

Activity Objective:
To provide the children with a constant reminder of the importance of Jesus in their lives
Lesson Outcome:
The children will have a visible reminder that they need to keep Jesus in the center of their lives.
Materials
  • Markers or crayons
  • Hole punch
  • Stickers
  • 1/4-inch thick ribbon, cut in 6-inch pieces
  • Strips of construction paper, 9" x 2"
 
Directions:
  • Pass out one strip of construction paper to each child.
  • Using the markers, have each child print on his or her strip Jesus says: I am the way, the truth, and the life.
  • The children can decorate the bookmarks with stickers, markers, and crayons after they finish printing the quote.
  • Have each child use a hole punch to make a hole about a fourth of an inch from the top of the paper.
  • Fold the ribbon in half.
  • Thread the folded ribbon through the hole. Go about an inch through the hole, and push the ends of the ribbon through the loop of ribbon.
  • Encourage children to use the bookmarks in their favorite books.

Hints:
It may speed things up during the session to pre-punch the holes for the children.
Sensitivities:
Children with motor skill difficulties may need some help fitting all the words on the bookmark. Encourage them to use the back side if needed.
