The Language of Truth

Beatitudes and Works of Mercy

Activity Objective:
The young people will review their understanding of the Beatitudes and the Works of Mercy.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to identify the Beatitudes and the Works of Mercy as ways to serve God's kingdom.
Materials
  • Slips of paper with one Beatitude or Work of Mercy written on each.
  • Box
Directions:
  • Explain to the young people that you will be playing charades using the key words from this unit.
  • Divide the young people into two teams.
  • Have a volunteer from one team draw a slip of paper from the box and pantomime the title.
  • If someone from the other team guesses the answer, the team gets two points. If the opposing team gives up, the pantomiming team may guess and receive two points for a correct answer.

20 minutes
Hints:
This activity can be done using key words from this unit or previous units.

Decide on the length of time (such as two or three minutes) that each team has to guess correctly.

Decide if there will be a prize for the winning team.
