Lead Us Not into Temptation

Activity Objective:
The young people will reflect on tempting situations and how they can avoid giving in to temptation.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to explain that Jesus and the Church help us to overcome temptation.
Materials
  • Paper, pencils
Directions:
  • Divide the young people into groups of three or four.
  • Direct each group to come up with a temptation that young people their age are likely to meet. Have them write on a sheet of paper the situation.
  • Collect the papers and place them in a container. Pass around the container and have each group select one paper.
  • Allow the groups time to discuss the problem and create a skit depicting how they would handle themselves in that situation.
  • Have each group perform their skit for the entire group.
Learning Styles:
Body Smart,People Smart
Approximate Time:
25-30 minutes
Hints:
Some young people may have difficulty thinking of appropriate situations. Consider preparing in advance a list of situations that young people might face. Use the list to guide groups that need assistance.
Sensitivities:
Encourage the groups to think of situations on their own. This would prevent the young people from having to act out situations with which they might be uncomfortable.
