Lenten Prayer Cards

Activity Objective:
To explore the ways in which we honor our commitment to God during the Lenten season
Lesson Outcome:
The children will be able to explain that during Lent all Christians are called to fast, to pray, and to share.
Materials
  • Bibles
  • Pens, pencils, and paper
  • Markers or crayons
Directions:
  • Invite the children to create prayer cards by folding a sheet of paper in half. On the cards the children should ask God to help them stay true to their Lenten promises.
  • Encourage the children to write one of their Lenten promises on the front of the card and then a special prayer asking for God's guidance on the inside of the card.
  • Allow the children plenty of time to decorate their cards.
  • When they are finished, encourage the children to keep their cards in a special place at home.
