Making Classroom Rules

Activity Objective:
To teach the children that God made rules for us to tell us how to lead good lives
Lesson Outcome:
The children will be able to identify the Ten Commandments as a guide for how to follow Jesus.
Materials
  • Paper
  • Pencils
  • Chalk board
Directions:
  • Guide the children to form groups of three or four.
  • Tell the children that they are going to follow God's example and make three rules for the entire group.
  • Ask the children to share good group rules.
  • Write a few examples on the board.
  • Give the children time to generate three group rules.
  • Once the children have finished coming up with three rules, invite them to share their ideas with the large group.
  • Conclude by reminding them that God made rules for us to tell us how to live good lives and suggest that their rules could help us work well together.

10 minutes
Hints:
Write the children's examples on the board.

Encourage the children to think of at least three new rules for the group that they have not heard already.

Assign one child per group to write down the examples and a couple other students to share their answer.
