Marriage Promises

Activity Objective:
To identify the promises exchanged as part of the celebration of the Rite of Matrimony
Lesson Outcome:
The children will be able to describe the Rite of Matrimony.
Materials
  • Paper
  • Markers, pens, and colored pencils
Directions:
  • Distribute paper, markers, colored pencils, and pens.
  • Instruct the children to draw two circles (rings) large enough to write on, in, and through.
  • Encourage the children to call to mind the promises a couple exchanges during the wedding ceremony.
  • Invite the children to write the words of the wedding promises in the shape of a ribbon, weaving through, around, and in the rings.
  • Explain that this is to symbolize how a couple is united in love in the Sacrament of Matrimony.
  • Encourage the children to share their completed work.
