Marriage Promises

Activity Objective:

To identify the promises exchanged as part of the celebration of the Rite of Matrimony

Lesson Outcome:

The children will be able to describe the Rite of Matrimony.

Materials

Directions:

Distribute paper, markers, colored pencils, and pens.
Instruct the children to draw two circles (rings) large enough to write on, in, and through.
Encourage the children to call to mind the promises a couple exchanges during the wedding ceremony.
Invite the children to write the words of the wedding promises in the shape of a ribbon, weaving through, around, and in the rings.
Explain that this is to symbolize how a couple is united in love in the Sacrament of Matrimony.
Encourage the children to share their completed work.
