Mary in the Scriptures

Activity Objective:
To teach the children that Mary did God's will
Lesson Outcome:
The children will learn that God chose Mary to be the mother of his son.
Materials
  • Crayons
  • Paper
  • Bibles/ copies of stories
Directions:
  • Recall with the children the stories of Mary that they have already studied: Joseph's dream about Mary being chosen as Jesus' mother; the visitation of Mary with Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-55); Mary presenting Jesus in the Temple).
  • Divide the children into three groups. Assign one incident to each group to dramatize. Tell them to add more characters to the story—such as onlookers in the Temple—as appropriate. Some can create scenery or background on butcher paper.
  • Remind the children of Mary's willingness to do God's will.
