Meet Saint Martin de Porres

Activity Objective:

To help the children understand that Saint Martin de Porres accepted Jesus' invitation to be close to him

Lesson Outcome:

The children will learn that Saint Martin de Porres spent his life helping others in Peru.

Materials

Directions:

Tell the children that they are going to draw a picture of Saint Martin de Porres.
Read aloud the background on him to the children.
Explain that Saint Martin de Porres was recognized for establishing an orphanage and a hospital and taking great care of Africans who were enslaved.
Invite the children to draw a picture of Saint Martin de Porres engaging in an activity where he is helping others.
Encourage the children to share their artwork once they are finished.
Conclude by reminding them that Jesus invites us all to become close to him like Saint Martin de Porres.
