To learn the angels' message to the shepherds

The children will be able to understand the angels' message to the shepherds.

  • Unlined note cards
  • Crayons, markers, and pencils
  • Glue
  • Magnet strips

  • Share with the children the story of the angels visiting the shepherds to announce the birth of Jesus. Remind the children that the angels came to the shepherds and said to them: Glory to God. Peace on Earth.
  • Read to the children the passage from Luke 2:8-14.
  • Write on the board Glory to God. Peace on earth. Ask the children to copy this message somewhere on their note cards.
  • Before they write the message, tell the children that they will illustrate their special interpretation of the passage.
  • As the children create their drawings, remind them that it is important to think of this message as we celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas.
  • Tell the children that their drawings will be used as magnets. They will be able to display their messages on the refrigerator or on a mirror at home, serving as a special reminder for everyone.
  • When the children are finished, laminate the drawings and glue one magnet strip to each.
