Miracles Do Happen

Activity Objective:
To increase familiarity with miracles in the New Testament
Lesson Outcome:
The children will be able to define and identify miracles
Materials
  • Bibles
Directions:
  • Arrange the children in small groups with Bibles.
  • Instruct the children to open their Bibles to the New Testament Gospels.
  • Explain that each group is to look through the Gospels and find a miracle they would like to share with the other groups.
  • Encourage the children to plan out how they will act out the miracle.
  • Allow time for reading and collaboration.
  • When the groups are ready, invite the first group to perform.
  • Review the miracle with the children. Focus on identifying the type of miracle: for example, did the miracle involve nature, healings, raising of the dead, casting out of demons?
  • After each group has presented and the miracles have been reviewed, conclude with a discussion of why Jesus worked miracles and what miracles show us.
