Our Mission

Our mission as a company is to nurture a lived faith through building relevant and enduring bridges between our 2000-year-old Catholic faith and the needs and desires of today's spiritual seekers.

As an apostolate of the Chicago Province of the Society of Jesus (commonly known as the Jesuits), Loyola Press embraces the Jesuit passion for helping people to find God in all things. We continue the Jesuit tradition of service through the printed word and by being “people for others.”

The Jesuits, founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540, have had a long and significant history of service to education, beginning with their first school in Messina, Sicily, in 1548. Today Jesuit institutions of learning are located throughout the world. The Jesuits also have had a long-standing commitment to evangelization and faith formation, resulting from St. Ignatius's original purpose of “helping souls.” We at Loyola Press continue this tradition by inspiring individuals to be conscious of God's work in their everyday lives and helping them respond to this awareness through their daily decisions and actions.Learn more about the Ignatian ideals that guide our company.

Our Finding God Program
In the 16th century the visionary yet always practical St. Ignatius of Loyola reminded the Jesuit theologians who were advising bishops at the Council of Trent to also spend time in the city streets teaching the Catholic faith to children. In the 21st century, Finding God: Our Response to God's Gifts is born from that same Ignatian desire to help everyone discover God's love and care for him or her.

Finding God: Our Response to God's Gifts is a Catholic faith formation program for children in grades 1 through 8 and the significant adults in their lives. This program helps catechetical leaders and catechists guide children and adults in their desire to know Jesus and live faith-filled lives. The components of the program have been crafted by faith-filled people who believe that an authentic expression of faith engages the heart, the mind, and the imagination and opens the person to the work of the Holy Spirit. Finding God: Our Response to God's Gifts offers many avenues for opening hearts and minds—from its rich content to its beautiful artwork to its original music and other audio recordings. Our Christ Our Life Program
Christ Our Life is the program that set the standard for religious education. Written by the Sisters of Notre Dame, Christ Our Life is rich in content, doctrine, and Scripture, with Jesus at the heart of every lesson. The Sisters of Notre Dame developed the original spiral curriculum in 1973, and today many other programs imitate this model. Fully-supportive teaching manuals and plentiful resources make Christ Our Life perfect for both new and experienced catechists and teachers.Learn more about Christ Our Life.
