TV News Interviews

Passover, Last Supper, Eucharist Parallels

Activity Objective:
To bring the Passover, Last Supper, and Eucharist parallels to life
Lesson Outcome:
The children will be able to identify the parallels among the celebrations of Passover, the Last Supper, and the Eucharist.
Materials
  • Bibles
  • Pens and paper
Directions:
  • Divide the children into two groups.
  • Assign a group to be those who were present at the first Passover meal in Egypt.
  • Assign a group to be those who were present at the Last Supper.
  • Allow the children time to refer to the appropriate Scripture references. Passover: Exodus 12:5-13 and Last Supper: Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-25, Luke 22:14-20.
  • Encourage the children to develop questions that they would expect to be asked if TV had been around when these events occurred.
  • Instruct each group to select a news team.
  • Explain that the team will be interviewing those in the group about the event and their reaction to what occurred.
  • Conduct the interviews as if this is breaking news.
  • At the conclusion of the interviews, discuss similarities and differences and then encourage the children to make a connection to the Eucharist by drawing connections between Passover, the Last Supper, and Mass.
