Personal Prayer

Activity Objective:
The young people will practice a personal meditation technique that they can use every day.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to pray reflectively on God's presence, his invitation, and our response.
Materials
  • CD player
  • Instrumental music CD
Directions:
  • Review with the young people the importance of making time for prayer.
  • Explain that today they will learn a form of meditation that they can use every day.
  • Invite the young people to find a comfortable position and to sit quietly with their eyes closed.
  • Then lead them through the following steps:

Imagine that Jesus is sitting next to you.

Call to mind any decisions you have to make or anything that upsets or worries you.

Share these things with Jesus. Tell him all about them.

Then be still and allow Jesus time to speak. What does Jesus say?

Close by praying the Glory Be to the Father.

Encourage the young people to set aside five minutes each day to pray this prayer.
