A Portrait of Saint Ignatius and You

Activity Objective:

To understand that Saint Ignatius was inspired by reading about Jesus and the saints

Lesson Outcome:

The children will learn that Saint Ignatius is an important saint who dedicated his life to God.

Materials

Directions:

Talk with the children about how Saint Ignatius came to dedicate his life to God after reading books about Jesus and the saints.
Show them the Bible and some books about lives of the saints. Ask them to share stories of saints they have read about.
Show them a picture of Saint Ignatius.
Ask the children to fold their pieces of paper in half.
Ask the children to draw a picture of Ignatius on the left side of their papers.
Once the children have finished that picture, have them draw a picture of themselves reading a book on the other side. Ask them to title the book with the name of Jesus or a favorite saint.
Encourage the children to share their portraits when they are finished.
Conclude by reminding the children that Ignatius was inspired by reading about Jesus and the saints.
