Prayers to the Holy Spirit

Pentecost Activity

Activity Objective:
To have the children begin to actively include the Holy Spirit in their prayer lives
Lesson Outcome:
The children will have the opportunity to write in their own words a prayer to the Holy Spirit.
Materials
  • Paper, pencils
Directions:
  • On the board write the words Come, Holy Spirit, help me.
  • Invite the children to talk about asking the Holy Spirit to help them or someone they know.
  • Pass out the paper and pencils.
  • Ask the children to write a sentence asking for help with something in their lives—school work, friendships, activities.
  • Under their own sentences, ask them to copy the sentence on the board onto their papers.
  • In your prayer circle at the end of class, ask a volunteer to read aloud his or her prayer to the Holy Spirit.
  • Remind the children that the Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus to help us bring our prayers to God and that they can pray to the Holy Spirit any time.
