Most Christians understand that prayer is an important part of the faith, but many of us are unsure of how to pray to God. Praying with Jesus by George Martin uses the Gospels and the example of Jesus to show us how to pray to God in any and all circumstances. Martin explains some key teachings of Jesus: that God is our Father, that we can approach God directly, and that prayer thrives when done with simplicity, confidence, and persistence. We then learn from Jesus how to pray to God—in solitude and with friends, in wordless contemplation and humble intercession, and always with an attitude of obedience to the Father's will.
George Martin is the founding editor of God's Word Today, a daily guide to reading Scripture. He has written many books on Scripture and spiritual issues, including Reading Scripture as the Word of God(Servant, 1993).
