Preparing for Sunday

Activity Objective:
The young people will learn ways to prepare for the Sunday Scripture readings.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to identify actions that show how we keep the Lord's Day holy.
Materials
  • Bibles or missalettes
Directions:
  • Each week, present the upcoming Sunday's readings, using one of the following approaches:
  • Have a young person read aloud a passage for the group and let the young people write a homily that flows from the reading, applying its message to daily life.
  • Present the three readings and have the group discuss why they were chosen for the same celebration.
  • The young people could interpret the readings through a skit or news report.
  • Discuss a thought from the Gospel Reading that could be an inspiration for the coming week.
  • Have each young person print the psalm response or Gospel verse on a card and post it at home or in the classroom.
