Public Relations for Reconcilers

Activity Objective:

The young people will come to more deeply appreciate God's forgiveness and our call to be reconciled with others.

Lesson Outcome:

The young people should be able to describe Penance as the sacrament in which we receive God's grace to turn away from sin.

Materials

Directions:

Invite the young people to brainstorm the benefits of receiving the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. Write their answers on the board.
Divide the young people into groups of three or four. (This activity may also be done individually.)
Have each group design a TV commercial, billboard, or magazine ad encouraging people to be reconciled with others and to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. They may want to reword a popular logo or slogan, such as "Reconciliation—when you care enough to give your very best."
Direct each group to share their work with the entire group.
