Diversity in Creation

Activity Objective:
To discover diversity in creation
Lesson Outcome:
The children will learn that God used all different colors, sizes, and shapes of things to make the world beautiful and balanced, and that we, as creations of God, should respect the beauty found in diversity.
Materials
  • Paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Roll of colored tape
Directions:
  • Invite each child to draw one thing that God created.
  • Collect all the drawings and lay them on the floor so they form a quilt.
  • Place strips of colored tape on the "seams" to tape the images together.
  • Let the children help with holding and taping the pictures together.
  • Keep the quilt hanging in the room as a reminder of God's creation. (You may want to add patches as the year goes on.)
Learning Styles:
Art/Space Smart,People Smart
Approximate Time:

Hints:
If time does not allow the group to tape the drawings together, you may have to tape them yourself and have the quilt hanging in the room for your next session.
