Paul and Silas

Activity Objective:
The young people will reflect on the mission of Saint Paul by reading the account of his imprisonment in the Acts of the Apostles.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to explain what Saint Paul teaches us about Jesus.
Materials
  • Bibles
  • Paper, pencils
  • Instrumental music CD and CD player
Directions:
  • Review with the young people Saint Paul's contributions to the Church.
  • Direct the young people to read the account of Paul and Silas in Acts of the Apostles 16:16-34.
  • Invite the young people to imagine that they are in prison with Paul. Have them write a 15-word message from Paul or Silas to the early Christians expressing hope and joy.
  • Invite volunteers to read aloud their messages.

Hints:
Instrumental music can help create a reflective atmosphere while the young people read and reflect.
