Showing God's Love

Activity Objective:
To teach the children that Jesus is a model of love and goodness and we can model our lives after his
Lesson Outcome:
The children will follow Jesus as a model of love and goodness.
Directions:
  • Tell the children that they are going to show God's love to others with a simple gesture.
  • Role-play with a child by shaking his or her hand and smiling at him or her.
  • Emphasize that the gesture of a simple smile and a handshake is a way of showing God's love.
  • Guide the children to engage in this gesture with everyone in the group.
  • Conclude by reminding the children that we can show God's love every day with simple gestures that we share with others.

Hints:
Demonstrate gestures in front of the group (examples: a wave, a hand on the shoulder, an offer to help carry something, and so on).

Encourage the children to think of how they feel when someone smiles at them or shares a handshake with them.

Emphasize the simplicity of these gestures and encourage the children to practice them at home.
