Activity Objective:
To understand that through his Resurrection Jesus gave us the gift of peace
Lesson Outcome:
The children will be able to comprehend that Jesus gave us the gift of peace through his Resurrection.

  • Bibles
  • Poster board
  • Colored paper

Directions:
  • Ask the children to share what they know about why we celebrate Easter.
  • Encourage the children to share how they celebrate Easter at home and at church.
  • Say: During the Easter season, we remember that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and gave us the gift of peace.
  • At this time, invite the children to open their Bibles to Luke 24:36-43.
  • Invite volunteers to read the story aloud.
  • After the reading, discuss the gifts of peace that Jesus shared with those who saw him.
  • Say to the children: Just as Jesus gave the gift of peace to his disciples, he gives the gift of peace to all who believe in him.
  • Invite the children to create prayer cards to help them pray for the gift of peace.
  • Pass out colored paper and coloring materials.
  • Allow the children to work in pairs or small groups.
  • Let the children know that their prayers may be shared at a special prayer service.
