Thank You, Jesus

Activity Objective:
To encourage the children to express themselves in a thank-you note to Jesus
Lesson Outcome:
The children will thank Jesus for teaching them the Lord's Prayer and follow his example to lead peaceful, caring lives.
Materials
  • Writing paper
  • Pencils
Directions:
  • Tell the children they will have a chance to write a thank-you note to Jesus for all the things he has shared with them. They may write it in the form of a poem if they like.
  • Divide the children into small groups and give each group two sheets of writing paper and a pencil. Ask them to choose someone to take notes.
  • Suggest that they brainstorm to make a list of all the things they would like to thank Jesus for. (Examples: telling us God is our Father; teaching us to pray; the Lord's Prayer; his good example)
  • Suggest that they then write a group note or prayer of thanks.
  • When they have finished, invite the groups that would like to do so to share what they have written.
  • Conclude by reminding the children to say Thank you, Jesus often as they try to follow his caring example.
Learning Styles:
People Smart,Word Smart
Approximate Time:
10 minutes
Hints:
