Thank You, Jesus

Activity Objective:

To encourage the children to express themselves in a thank-you note to Jesus

Lesson Outcome:

The children will thank Jesus for teaching them the Lord's Prayer and follow his example to lead peaceful, caring lives.

Materials

Directions:

Tell the children they will have a chance to write a thank-you note to Jesus for all the things he has shared with them. They may write it in the form of a poem if they like.
Divide the children into small groups and give each group two sheets of writing paper and a pencil. Ask them to choose someone to take notes.
Suggest that they brainstorm to make a list of all the things they would like to thank Jesus for. (Examples: telling us God is our Father; teaching us to pray; the Lord's Prayer; his good example)
Suggest that they then write a group note or prayer of thanks.
When they have finished, invite the groups that would like to do so to share what they have written.
Conclude by reminding the children to say Thank you, Jesus often as they try to follow his caring example.
