The Holy Spirit Song

Activity Objective:

To help the children make up a song about the Holy Spirit.

Lesson Outcome:

The children will be aware that the Holy Spirit is within them.

Materials

Chalkboard

Directions:

Tell the children that they are going to make up a song about the Holy Spirit.
Ask the children to sit on the floor in a circle.
Begin the song by singing a made-up first line. (Sing to the tune of “She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain.”)
Encourage the group to help make up the next few lines of the song and write them on the board.
Continue until the group has developed at least three or four lines of the song.
Sing the song together.
Conclude by reminding the students that God gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit and he is always with us.

Hints:

Demonstrate by beginning the song with a line you have previously written.

Be prepared with extra lines to help the children. (For example: teaches us to love the Lord, is our Guide and our help, is with us every single day, gives us gifts and helps us grow, and similar lines)
