To My Dear Friends

Activity Objective:
To teach the children the great love Jesus shows for us through his death and resurrection
Lesson Outcome:
The children will explain what Saint Paul wrote in his letters about Jesus' passage from death to resurrection.
Materials
  • Writing paper
  • Pencils
Directions:
  • Tell the children that they're going to write a letter to help them understand the important meaning of Jesus' death and resurrection in our lives.
  • Remind the children of Saint Paul's letter to his friends in Corinth:  "Friends, Remember the gospel I preached to you. If you believe this message, you will be saved. Jesus Christ died for our sins, as the Scriptures say. He was buried. He was raised from the dead three days later. He appeared to Peter and the apostles." adapted from 1 Corinthians 15: 1-15.
  • Invite the children to work in pairs. Ask each pair to imagine that they are in Saint Paul's place, wanting to share the great message of Jesus' death and resurrection.
  • Invite each pair to write a letter in the style of Paul's letter to tell friends the importance of Jesus' great gift to us.
  • When the children are finished with their letters, invite them to share their letters with a few other pairs of children.
  • Conclude by reminding the children how important it is for us to remember the great gift Jesus gave us and to share Jesus' love with others.
Learning Styles:
People Smart,Word Smart
Approximate Time:
10 minutes
Hints:
Remind the children to use the same sincere tone that Paul used in his letter.
