To Tell the Truth

Activity Objective:
The young people will become more familiar with figures from the Gospels by playing an identification game.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to identify the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
Materials
  • Bibles
  • Paper, pencils
Directions:
  • Divide the young people into groups of three.
  • Have each group choose one figure from the Gospels. Emphasize that the groups should not reveal which figure they have chosen.
  • Tell the young people that one member of the group will be the real figure and the other two will pretend to be that person.
  • Have one group sit facing the rest of the class.
  • Ask for four volunteers to form a panel. Explain that the members of the panel will direct questions to the group, who may answer only by saying yes or no.
  • After 10 questions, have the panel vote for which group member it thinks is the real figure.
  • Continue the game with the next group and a new panel.
Learning Styles:
Logic/Math Smart,People Smart
Approximate Time:
30-40 minutes
Hints:
Prior to playing the game, review each group's figure to ensure that multiple groups have not chosen the same person.

Be sure to have questions ready for the group game.
