Today I Cared

Activity Objective:
To teach the children to look for opportunities to show through their actions that they love others
Lesson Outcome:
The children will explain how we show our love for others through our actions.
Directions:
  • Tell the children that in this activity they will have a chance to share something caring that they did for someone today.
  • Invite the children to join you in a circle on the floor. Ask them to close their eyes for a few moments and review their day so far.
  • Suggest that they picture in their minds the events of the day. Ask them to think about the people they've been with at home, on the way to school, on the playground, and in the room.
  • Ask them to recall an opportunity they had to do a small act of kindness for someone.
  • Invite volunteers to share their caring acts with the group. Remind them that they are not bragging, but giving examples of good ways to serve others.
  • Continue until all who wish to do so have participated.
  • Conclude by thanking the children for showing their love for others through their actions, and ask them to continue to share God's love with others.
Learning Styles:
People Smart,Self Smart
Approximate Time:
5 minutes
Hints:
Don't force the children to participate, so they know it's better to pass if they didn't have an opportunity to do a caring action yet today than to make up something.
