True Love

Activity Objective:
The young people will be able to articulate the Christian meaning of love.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to explain that Jesus sums up the Commandments in his law of love.
Materials
  • Old newspapers and magazines
  • Poster paper
  • Glue
  • Markers
Directions:
  • Lead the young people in a discussion of the true meaning of love. Ask them to give examples of how media distorts this idea of love.
  • Divide the young people into small groups. Provide each group with a sheet of poster paper and old magazines and newspapers.
  • Direct the groups to use cartoons, headlines, and ads to create collages that present a true image of love.
  • Invite volunteers to share their work.

Hints:
Playing instrumental music while the young people work helps to create a reflective atmosphere.
