We Are Fam-I-Ly!

Activity Objective:
To reinforce the joy we receive and give as members of God's family
Lesson Outcome:
The children will express the joy of belonging to the People of God.
Directions:
  • Suggest enthusiastically that this activity will remind the children of the joy of being a member of God's family.
  • Invite the children to join you by standing in a circle. Ask them to join hands and hold their hands up as they practice chanting together: We are fam-i-ly! All God's happy children are we!
  • Review some of the things the children do as members of one family in Jesus. (help a friend practice pitching; bake cookies for a bake sale; welcome new classmates; pray together)
  • Call on volunteers to step into the circle and offer a suggestion of something a caring family member does.
  • Instruct the children to raise their hands and chant after each response. Continue until all those who wish to do so have had a turn.
  • Conclude by reminding the children to share their chant and their happiness with their families at home.
Learning Styles:
Body Smart,Music Smart
Approximate Time:
5 minutes
Hints:
Demonstrate the rhythm of the chant for the children before asking them to do it.

Show enthusiasm as you demonstrate the rhythm so the children will do the same.
