We Can Help

Activity Objective:

To encourage the children to act out problems in our world and collaborate to create solutions

Lesson Outcome:

The children will identify some of the problems in our world and discuss how people can help to create solutions.

Directions:

Gather the children in groups of four and ask each group to decide on a world or community problem.
Indicate to the children that this needs to be a problem they can act out for the whole group.
Give the children a few minutes to put together a short mimed skit that illustrates the problem.
Each group takes a turn presenting their skit. The remaining children form the audience.
After each presentation the audience must decide what the problem is and brainstorm possible solutions.
Conclude by reiterating the problems and solutions presented by the children and reinforcing how we can help.

Circulate around the room and encourage the children as they practice their skits.
