What If . . .

Activity Objective:
The young people will review the events of Holy Week to reinforce the importance of telling the truth.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to recount the events that we remember during Holy Week.
Materials
  • Paper, pencils
Directions:
  • Lead the young people in a discussion about what happened when Jesus was arrested and what might have happened if Jesus had been given a fair trial with honest witnesses.
  • Direct the young people to choose a person from Jesus' life and write two questions a lawyer might ask that person if he or she were on the witness stand at Jesus' trial.
  • Have the young people write an answer to each question as if they were the character.
  • Invite volunteers to share their work. Then collect the papers.
  • Next, use the papers as a script and have the group stage a fair trial for Jesus, with one of the students acting as the prosecutor and others as the witnesses.
Learning Styles:
People Smart,Word Smart
Approximate Time:
20-30 minutes
Hints:
You may wish to put on the trial for an audience of parents or other young people.
