What's the Solution?

Activity Objective:

The young people will learn to more deeply appreciate how the Bible speaks to their lives today.

Lesson Outcome:

The young people should be able to identify the Bible as a personal message from God.

Materials

Directions:

Brainstorm a list of 8 to 10 problems that currently exist in our nation. Write them on the board.
Instruct the young people to take a sheet of paper and to fold it in half lengthwise to make two columns.
Direct them to select five problems from the list on the board and to write them in the column on the left.
Have the young people use their Bibles to look up a line from a Psalm or other Scripture passage that relates to the problem or offers a way to solve it. Then instruct them to write the passage in the column on the right.
Invite volunteers to share their work.
End by asking young people to share their thoughts on how the Bible is as relevant to our lives today as it was centuries ago.
