What's the Solution?

Activity Objective:
The young people will learn to more deeply appreciate how the Bible speaks to their lives today.
Lesson Outcome:
The young people should be able to identify the Bible as a personal message from God.
Materials
  • Bibles
  • Paper
  • Pencils
Directions:
  • Brainstorm a list of 8 to 10 problems that currently exist in our nation. Write them on the board.
  • Instruct the young people to take a sheet of paper and to fold it in half lengthwise to make two columns.
  • Direct them to select five problems from the list on the board and to write them in the column on the left.
  • Have the young people use their Bibles to look up a line from a Psalm or other Scripture passage that relates to the problem or offers a way to solve it. Then instruct them to write the passage in the column on the right.
  • Invite volunteers to share their work.
  • End by asking young people to share their thoughts on how the Bible is as relevant to our lives today as it was centuries ago.
