Working Together Can Be Fun

Activity Objective:
To encourage children to be good friends and work together to accomplish goals of helping others
Lesson Outcome:
The children will identify ways to work together to accomplish good deeds.
Directions:
  • Tell the children that they are going to make up and role-play stories in which good friends work together to help others.
  • Discuss with the children the following: It often takes many people working together to do a job. Jesus' apostles learned to work together when they went out to proclaim God's word. Discuss how you could work with others to follow Jesus' path.
  • Divide the children into small groups. Assign each group a place to plan and practice.
  • Ask each group to work together to plan a short role-playing situation in which the group members have fun while helping each other do something important for others (examples: cleaning up after a class party, running a bake sale for the needy, helping a primary class with a craft project).
  • Invite the groups to take turns presenting their situations to the larger group. Encourage discussion of how each group achieved their goal.
  • Conclude by telling the children you could tell by their faces and actions that they were cooperating and having fun and that they chose an important way to help others.
Learning Styles:
