3 Persons of Trinity Activity

Activity Objective

To help the children better understand the relationship of the three persons of the Trinity

Lesson Outcome

The children will worship the Trinity whenever they pray the Sign of the Cross.

Materials

  • Ball of yarn
  • Three sheets of 12" x 18" drawing paper
  • Crayons

Directions

  • Tell the children they are going to do an activity that will help them to think about the three persons in the Trinity as they pray the Sign of the Cross.
  • Divide the children into three groups. Assign work places that will form a triangle when joined by yarn. Give each group drawing paper and crayons.
  • Tell one group to write Father in the center of their paper, another group Son, and the third group Holy Spirit.
  • Ask each group to discuss and share by drawing pictures and writing phrases on their paper about what comes to mind when they think of that person. (Examples: Creator, loves us; Son of God, became man; helps us know God; helps us be caring)
  • Holding the ball of yarn, stand with the first group and invite them to share their ideas. Ask one of the children to hold the end of the yarn while you walk to the next group. After they share, have a child hold the yarn taut while you walk to the third group and do the same. Then walk back to the first group and tie the yarn to close the triangle.
  • Conclude by discussing the triangle as a symbol of the Trinity and the idea of the three persons in the Holy Trinity. Pray the Sign of the Cross together, and encourage the children to think about what they have shared today.
