Jesus Is Alive! Windsocks

Activity Objective

To create windsocks to celebrate Jesus' resurrection

Lesson Outcome

The children will experience and celebrate the story of Jesus' resurrection.

Materials

For each child:

  • large paper plate
  • one 12" piece of yarn
  • four 12" pieces of different-colored crepe paper
  • glue
  • crayons or markers

Directions

  • Tell the children that one way to celebrate Jesus' resurrection is to create a windsock.
  • Pass out the paper plates and ask the children to write the words ?Jesus is Alive!? on both the bottom and the top of the plate.
  • Invite them to add designs, patterns, or stickers around the words for decoration.
  • Glue the edge of each piece of crepe paper and attach it to the rim of the plate so that the other edge will float in the air. Spread out the crepe paper equally around the plate.
  • Using a pencil tip, make a hole in the center of the plate.
  • Pull the yarn through the center hole and tie a knot to prevent the yarn from slipping through.
  • Hang the windsock using the yarn.
