Before you begin, pause for a few moments and relax. Take several deep breaths. Be aware of the loving presence of God within you.
Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
This sounds like common sense. While at first glance this verse might seem passive, it includes four action verbs that belie its initial appearance—turn, do, seek and pursue. There is nothing passive here. The life of discipleship is active, dynamic, and vigilant. A disciple is constantly in the process of personal conversion. This process creates a chain reaction that gathers momentum as it goes, leading others to experience the peace and freedom of the Kingdom of God.
Am I a peacekeeper or a peacemaker?
How might I make more conscious choices to turn from evil and do good?
(Speak to God, using this prayer or a prayer of your own.)
Jesus, thank you for calling me to conversion of life. Guide my feet on the path to peace.
